Overview
At Bruen's Bees, we believe in putting the bees first. Non-exploitive beekeeping isn't a marketing angle for us, it's the standard to which we hold ourselves. We know the health of our colonies and quality of our honey are inseparable, and that belief shapes everything we do.
That means we never take more than what our hives can sustainably give. We monitor each colony closely throughout the season, ensuring our bees always have ample reserves before we ever consider harvesting. Our goal is to work with the bees, not against them. We do this by supporting strong populations, minimizing stress, and letting the colony set the pace.
This is why we never heat, filter, or process our honey beyond what's necessary to get it safely into the jar. Raw and unfiltered isn't just a label for us, it's our standard for giving you our honey the way the bees intended.
Where It All Started
During middle school, Shanden happened upon a job assisting a local beekeeper and it didn't take long until he was hooked. Like most people who open up a hive, the complexity and instincts of the bees invoked a fascination that would eventually lead to the creation of this business. After a couple years at college, Schyler got the opportunity to assist his brother with some beekeeping and the rest is history. The Bruen brothers are driven to make their impact on beekeeping by continuing to provide the healthiest bees and the highest quality honey.
Growing the Apiary
Having managed over a thousand colonies working under a local beekeeper, we are now growing our own operation to similar levels. We manage multiple locations across Northern and Central California, with an emphasis on pollination and honey production.
With over a decade of experience, we have honed our craft and are able to maintain thriving colonies that make our pollination services and honey production possible. That experience and dedication to this craft drives us every day, and we know the work we're doing here will make a lasting mark.
